Applying to CUT: A Step-by-Step Guide

This guide will walk you through the online application process for becoming a prospective student at the Central University of Technology (CUT).

1. Head to the CUT website:

Visit the official website: www.cut.ac.za

2. Navigate to the application page:

Click on the “Student” tab on the menu bar.
Select “Prospective Student” from the dropdown menu.
Scroll down and click on “Application Process.”

3. Start your new application:

On the left side of the page, select the “New Application” tab.
Click on “New Applications.”
Carefully read the instructions for new applicants and ensure you have all necessary documents before proceeding.

4. Accept the terms and conditions:

Read the document on the page and click “Accept” to proceed.

5. Enter your biographical data:

Accurately fill in your personal information exactly as it appears in your South African ID or passport.
Ensure all contact details are correct so the university can reach you.

6. Continue through the application process:

Follow the on-screen instructions and complete each section fully.
Click “Next” to proceed to the next section.

7. Upload your academic documents:

You can upload your certificates manually or automatically if you completed Grade 12 recently.
Click “Add Subject” to manually add each subject and its corresponding information.

8. Provide your educational information:

Indicate where, when, and what subjects you completed in your previous qualifications.

9. Choose your desired program:

Select your two program choices after carefully reviewing the requirements for each.
Prioritize your choices by listing your first and second options.

10. Review and submit your application:

Carefully review all information entered and make corrections if needed.
Upload any required documents. Your application is incomplete without them.
Check the upload status to ensure all documents were uploaded successfully.
Write down your generated student number for future reference.
Click “Submit Application” to finalize your application.

11. Add your program to your profile (optional):

Enter the program you applied to and click “Search.”
Click on the program code (in blue) to add it to your profile.
Verify that the program is listed under “View Completed Application(s).”
You will receive an email notification confirming your application profile update.
