  • Opening Date: Applications opened via CAO on 1 March 2025.
  • General Closing Date: 30 September 2025.

๐Ÿ”น Undergraduate Applicants

All undergraduate applications must be submitted via the Central Applications Office (CAO):

๐Ÿ”น Postgraduate Applicants

Postgraduate applicants may apply directly through DUTโ€™s online portal (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions).

Undergraduate Applicants

  • NSC or Senior Certificate
  • Minimum APS required for your selected programme
  • Language proficiency in English

Postgraduate Applicants

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent qualification
  • Transcripts and degree certificate
  • Research proposal and supervisor (for research programmes)

Make sure your documents are certified and include:

  • ID/Passport
  • Grade 12 certificate or latest school results
  • Academic transcripts (postgrad)
  • Degree certificate (postgrad)
  • Proof of residence
  • Disability documentation (if applicable)
  • Proof of NSFAS application (if applicable)
  • Reference letters and research details (for certain postgraduate programmes)

๐Ÿ“ CAO Fees (Undergraduate Applicants):

  • On-time Applications (before 31 October 2025):
    • R250 (South African citizens)
    • R300 (International applicants)
  • Late Applications (from 1 November 2025):
    • R470 (South African citizens)
    • R580 (International applicants)

Payments are made online on the CAO website or via bank deposit. Use your CAO number as a reference.

DUT postgraduate portal may request a separate fee during online submission.

๐Ÿ“ Step-by-Step Application Process for Postgraduates

Follow this if youโ€™re applying directly through DUT (postgraduate only):

  1. Create Application ID
  • Go to the DUT application portal
  • Click โ€œCreate Temporary IDโ€
  1. Login
  • Use your User ID and password
  • Click Sign In
  1. Start New Application
  • Click โ€œApply for Admissionโ€
  • Choose Begin New Application
  1. Fill in Programme & Year
  • Select Application Type and 2026 Academic Year
  • Click Continue
  1. Complete Sections

Move through each page:

  • Personal Info, Contact Info
  • Study Choices (up to 4 programmes)
  • Address Details
  • Demographics (race, religion, language)
  • Disability declaration (if applicable)
  • Next of Kin & Emergency Contact
  • Education History
  • Employment and References (optional for postgrads)
  • Research details (for research-based degrees)
  • Upload documents
  • Accept the student declaration
  1. Validate & Submit
  • Click Validate Application
  • Fix errors if prompted
  • Click Submit Application to the University
  • A confirmation email will follow

Undergraduate Applicants

  1. Go to: www.cao.ac.za
  2. Click โ€œCheck My Applicationโ€
  3. Enter your CAO number, ID, or passport

Postgraduate Applicants

  1. Log in to the DUT online portal
