How Much Does NSFAS Pay For Students Every Year

For the academic year 2024-2025, every student living in an urban, peri-urban, or remote region will be paid an allowance of R24,000, R18,900, or R15,750.

In addition to the aforementioned benefits, each NSFAS student is entitled to the following allowances each year:

Transport allowances of R7,350 per (up to 40 km from the institution)
A living allowance of R15,000
Books and Learning Materials allowances of R5200
Incidental/personal care allowances of R2900
