The University of Cape Town (UCT) invites applications for the 2026 academic year from all backgrounds, provided applicants meet program requirements. Applications are open from April 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025, and can be submitted either electronically or manually, as a government-sponsored or private candidate.

Application Fees Breakdown: Understand Requirements Before You Apply

Before applying for admission to the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2026, make sure you understand the application fee guidelines. You will not be able to submit your application unless you pay the non-refundable fee before or during the submission procedure

• South Africa & SADC Region: R100 for undergraduate and postgraduate programs
• Outside SADC Region: R300 for undergraduate and postgraduate programs

Graduate School of Business (GSB):

• South Africa & African Citizens/Residents: R1940
• Outside Africa: USD 300

Application fees: Pay by the deadline, or better yet, submit them as soon as possible. Don’t delay!

Two payment options:

• Manually: Submit payment to the official UCT bank account.
• Electronically: Pay online through the application portal (if available).
• Early submission is strongly encouraged. Don’t let a late fee hold you back from your UCT dream!

UCT has strict deadlines for the 2026 application process. To ensure your application is considered, submit all required supporting documents before the application deadline. Late submissions may not be accepted.

Undergraduate Applicants:

Steps to apply online at the University of Cape Town (UCT)

• Go to www.uct.ac.za.
• From the menu at the top, select “Applicants & Students.”
• Go over the given material.
• From the list, choose “Prospective Students.”
• After reading the welcome message, continue.
• Select the tab for “Applications.”
• From the drop-down menu, select “Apply.”
• Decide if you are an undergraduate or graduate student.
• Examine and read the instructions for the application.
• To begin, click “Apply Online.”
• Fill out the application online.
• Choose your application year and qualifications.
• To continue, click “Click here to continue.”
• Upload the necessary documents.
• Evaluate your application and submit it.
