UJ Tuition fees and Banking Details 2023

The University of Johannesburg’s administration has at last disclosed the account information into which all application and tuition fees should be paid. The account information is for individuals applying for admissions electronically or manually who must pay the 2023 application fee and tuition fee. This account applies to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Payment options at the University of Johannesburg

A student or applicant may select from the options on the following list to make payment.

  • You can pay at the University of Johannesburg’s authorized cashiers.
  • Credit cards and debit cards are accepted
  • Debit order system
  • Payments can also be made at any First National Bank branch
  • Electronic payments: Students and applicants can pay their tuition fees online through the website: www.uj.ac.za by using their valid credit/cheque card.

Applicable tuition fees at the University of Johannesburg

With the exception of dissertations and theses, which are charged per semester for each degree program until the dissertation or thesis is turned in to the faculty in its final form, tuition rates are determined annually per module.

How Tuitions are paid at UJ

  1. A 30% upfront payment at enrollment,
  2. A 65% tuition fee payment by 30 April of the academic year,
  3. The university expects the rest by 31 July of the academic year.

Please note: If all costs are paid at the time of registration, the University will give you a 5% discount.

Payment Options Explained

Payments to the University of Johannesburg for the 2023/2024 academic year can be made using the options listed details below.

Students with a valid UJ Student Number, using Electronic banking

The new UJ FNB Tuition Fee account is available as a predefined beneficiary on the Electronic platforms of all the major banks, including Capitec Bank.

Must do:

  • Students must search for the predefined beneficiaries on their own electronic banking platform and select the University of Johannesburg First National Bank Tuition Fee account, and save that as a beneficiary to make a payment
  • Students must use their STUDENT NUMBER for reference.

Students with a valid UJ Student Number, using any FNB Cash accepting ATM

For Cash deposits:  Use any First National Bank  (FNB) cash-accepting ATM.
Select the card fewer services option on the ATM and deposit the amount payable.

How to use the ATM: Enter UJ as the recipient name in the First National Bank (FNB) box, followed by a space, and then choose the UJ tuition fees account.

Students with a valid UJ Student Number, using any FNB Branch

Visit any First National Bank  (FNB) branch to make a payment into the UJ Tuition Fee Account.
The teller will direct you to effect the payment.

  • Remember to use your STUDENT NUMBER for reference.

Students without a valid UJ student number, but a valid South African ID Number or Passport Number can use the following account
