The university’s management has revealed the list of courses offered at the University of Mpumalanga (UMP) for the academic year 2024. These courses are open to undergraduate applicants who meet the faculty requirements and qualify for admission.

UMP Courses And their Admission Requirement For 2024-2025:

The following lists are the available courses and their application requirement for the 2023/2024 academic year. The university reserves the right to change any of those requirements so ensure frequent checkups when the application window opens.

Diploma In Hospitality Management

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):
The minimum requirements for admission to a Diploma must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

  • Minimum Admission Point Score (APS):
  • 26 With Mathematics
  • 27 With Mathematical Literacy
  • English Language (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 3
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 4

Applicants with the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) level 4:

  • NCV level 4, with at least 50% for
  • English (Home Language or First
  • Additional Language), 40% for
  • Mathematics or 50% for Mathematical
  • Literacy, and 60% in four Hospitality subjects.

Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the Advanced Diploma is a Level 6 Diploma in Hospitality Management.
  • Applicants with an equivalent qualification with an aggregate of 60% for the prescribed major modules will also be considered.

Bachelor of Development Studies

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):
The minimum requirements for admission to a Bachelor’s Degree must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

  • Minimum Admission Point Score (APS):
  • 31 With Mathematics
  • 32 With Mathematical Literacy
  • English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 2
  • Mathematical Literacy : Level 3

Bachelor Of Commerce (BCOM) Degree

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):

The minimum requirements for admission to a Bachelor’s Degree must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

  • Minimum Admission Point Score (APS):
  • 32 With Mathematics
  • English Language (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 4
  • Mathematical Literacy is not acceptable
  • Commerce subjects will be beneficial but are not required

Diploma ICT in Application Development

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):

The minimum requirements for admission to a Diploma must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

  • Admission Point Score (APS) of 26
  • English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 4

Applicants with the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) level 4:

  • NCV level 4 with at least 50% for English (Home Language or First Additional Language),
  • 50% for Mathematics and 70% in four IT and Computer Science subjects.

Advanced Diploma in Agricultural Production Management

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the Advanced Diploma in Agricultural Production Management is a level 6 Diploma in Agriculture. Applicants with a bachelor’ Degree in Agriculture who wish to study Agricultural Production Management will also be considered.

Diploma in Agriculture in Plant Production

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):

The minimum requirements for admission to a Diploma must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

Minimum Admission Point Score (APS):

  • 25 With Mathematics
  • 26 With Mathematical Literacy
  • English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 3
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 4
  • Agriculture: Level 4

Diploma in Nature Conservation

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):

The minimum requirements for admission to a Diploma must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

Admission Points Score (APS):

  • 29 With Mathematics
  • 30 With Mathematical Literacy
  • English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 2
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 3
  • One of Life Sciences or Geography: Level 4

Applicants with the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) level 4:

  • NCV level 4, in Primary Agriculture with at least 50% for English (Home Language or First Additional Language), 30% for Mathematics, or 40% for Mathematical Literacy.

Bachelor of Agriculture in Agricultural Extension and Rural Resource Management

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):

The minimum requirements for admission to a Bachelor’s Degree must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

Admission Point Score (APS):

  • 28 With Mathematics
  • 30 With Mathematical Literacy
  • English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 4
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 6
  • One of Agriculture, Life Science or Physical Science: Level 4

Advanced Diploma in Agriculture in Agricultural Extension

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the Advanced Diploma is a Level 6 Diploma in Agriculture. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture who wish to study agricultural extension will also be considered.

Bachelor of Science Degree.

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate (NSC):

The minimum requirements for admission to a Bachelor’s Degree must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

Admission Point Score (APS) of 32

  • English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 4
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 6

Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate:

The minimum requirements for admission to a degree must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

  • Admission Point Score (APS) of 30
  • English Language (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 2
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 3

Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching

The minimum requirements for admission to a Bachelor’s Degree must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

Minimum Admission Point Score (APS):

  • 28 With Mathematics
  • 29 With Mathematical Literacy
  • English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  • Second Recognized Language: Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 3
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 4
  • Second Recognized Language: Level 4
