When to Apply to Stellenbosch University for 2026

Stellenbosch University is now accepting early applications for the 2026 academic year. Prospective students can begin applying immediately.

The 2026 application period has opened, running from April 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025. This provides both domestic and international students who wish to study undergraduate or postgraduate courses with the opportunity to apply for the 2026 intake.

Application Submission Requirements

You are required to submit all application documents, including proof of payment for the 2026 application fee, before the closing date. All applications submitted after July 31, 2025, will be rejected.

Which documents are needed to apply

The documents below must be submitted to the Admissions Office of Stellenbosch University via the application portal by the end of the deadline day:

South Africa Applicants

Final grade 11 results as per the Department of Education guidelines.
National Senior Certificate (NSC) or IEB/Statement of Symbols of final school results

International Applicants

Grade 11 results (pre-final) and final-year school subjects with levels.
Final school results from the International Curriculum (Cambridge International, International Baccalaureate, etc.), including School of Tomorrow.

Non-academic documents

The student support form applies to only Students with disabilities who need additional support.
Faculty-specific documents Portfolio requirements for BA (Visual Arts)
Proof of payment (R100 nonrefundable application fee) if you pay offline
Proof of permanent residency, refugee, or asylum-seeking status

Stellenbosch University Application Steps 2026

To help you apply, follow the steps below and ensure that you complete all the steps before the closing date.

Start by visiting www.sun.ac.za.
Choose the “Student” tab.
Click “Apply Now.”
Follow directions exactly as written.
Select the “Returning Student” option.
Enter your ID number.
Create a profile.
Activate your account by email.
Fill out all required fields.
Choose three study courses.
Provide your educational background and employment history.
Submit your academic records.
Upload all necessary materials. (Preferred formats include PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, JPEG, and PNG).
Make sure documents are clear and legible.
Submit a completed application.
You will be notified via email that the university has received your application. All emails sent to you will be available on the Applicant dashboard.
If your application is successful, the university will contact you via the email address and phone number you provided.
