Wits University Registration Process 2026

The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), a public research university in Johannesburg, South Africa, has opened its 2026 registration period. Prospective students can submit their registrations online through the Wits application portal. Late registrations will not be accepted, so it is important to register promptly to secure your spot. Once you accept the offer to study at Wits, it is your responsibility to officially register to become a fully admitted student, as all new students are required to register manually.

When to Register your First Semester

The registration process at the University of the Witwatersrand will open in January 2026 and close on 14 February 2026. Each faculty has its own registration dates, so students must be aware of these specific deadlines. Registration will begin on 13 January 2026 and end on 14 February 2026, depending on the course, and late registration will not be considered.

Who qualifies to register at WITS?

All applicants who have received an offer from the University of the Witwatersrand for the 2026 academic year, including foreign, postgraduate, and undergraduate candidates, must confirm their acceptance and complete the registration process. Current students wishing to change courses should consult with their department for guidance.

How to Register Online at the University of the Witwatersrand

Follow the steps below to register as first-time students of Wits University

Enter the URL of Wits University@ www.wits.ac.za
Scroll down and look for online facilities. Click on the tab/link to open the IENABLER
On this page, Enter your student number and unique PIN to log in. You can create a password if you have forgotten your old one.
On your Left pan, Click on “Academic Registration“
Read and accept the Rules and regulations by clicking on “I Accept” to proceed
Click on the next step. On this page, Use the drop-box and enter the field that suits you. Click SAVE AND CONTINUE
The previous step takes you to a page where all the modules are displayed. The ticked ones are the compulsory courses that cannot be altered. Select your courses by checking the empty boxes. Click SAVE AND CONTINUE
A preview of the modules is opened. Click on Continue to proceed
Your Registration cost page opens with the estimated cost of the selected courses. Click on ACCEPT REGISTRATION
A preview of Proof of Registration is launched. Click on Continue to proceed to the next step
Download or Print the proof of Registration and proceed to Register for Accommodation or Residence.

How to Register on the WITS Campus

If you cannot register online, you can go to the university campus for you to be helped. Remember the following when visiting the campus:

Students must first accept the offer by signing the acceptance letter sent by the university.
Applicant must submit a firm offer letter to the security at the entrance. This has been necessitated by the outbreak of the coronavirus.
proceed to the ICT department’s Registration Center.
Go with all the necessary documents
Collect your “Kudu” student card from any Kudu Card Office. You are required to provide proof of identification, such as your ID document, valid passport, or driver’s license.. Students must go there with the proof of registration printed out.
Register for residence if you want to.
