Apply online at www.nsfas.org.za. 2024 online application is the official website for Nsfas for the academic year 2024-2025. All you have to do is go to the official website and start filling out your application. Time, as they say, waits for no man, so if you want to receive funding for your postsecondary education in 2024, you must act quickly.

A critical prerequisite for online applications is the creation of a myNSFAS account. Applicants can use the dashboard of this account to apply for funding, track the status of their applications, update contact information, re-register, and reapply.

When, Who, Why, How, and Where to Apply for Nsfas Funding in 2024-2025

When:

The NSfas will be open to all South African students who are currently or will be enrolled in a public university or Tvet College of South Africa for the 2024-2025 academic year on September 28, 2023. All foreign-based students, including South African students enrolled or about to enrol in private institutions, are ineligible for funding. For the academic year 2024-2025, the Nsfas deadline is January 31, 2024.

The Nsfas will launch an application portal and forms for 2024 applications and admissions to students seeking tertiary funding on 28 September 2023.

Who:

As previously stated, Nsfas funding is only available to South African citizens enrolled in government-owned tertiary institutions. The following are the additional eligibility requirements:

  • Every SASSA grant recipient qualifies for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

Where:

There are two types of applications available. Applicants can apply either electronically or manually. You cannot apply using the same method at the same time. However, we recommend that you apply online because the manual application takes much longer than the electronic application to be processed. You can however apply using the avenues:

  • Tvet College bursary
  • Nsfas head office
  • If you do not have a digital device or access to the internet, do not stress, simply pop into your nearest National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) or Thusong Centre to apply by following the same steps.
