Apply Online For Funza Lushaka 2026

The Funza Lushaka Bursary application window for the 2026 academic year will open in October for all eligible and interested students. According to management, applications will be accepted from October 7, 2025, until January 24, 2026. No late applications will be considered after the closing date. All prospective Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students seeking financial assistance are encouraged to take note of these dates and submit their applications on time.

The Funza Lushaka Bursary Program was set up to encourage teaching as a career. It is a multi-year program. Selected students receive bursaries to help them complete their teaching qualifications in important subjects. The recipients of these bursaries will have to work as public school teachers for the same number of years as they received the stipend.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Any academically gifted, young –

• learners, currently in Grade 12;
• graduates below the age of 30 who want to complete a teaching qualification or enroll for a PGCE;
• people below the age of 30 who want to make a career change and become teachers; and
• unemployed people below the age of 30 who wish to become teachers.

Funza Lushaka Bursary Applications 2026 Now Open

The Department of Education has confirmed that applications for the Funza Lushaka bursary will be open on Tuesday, 07 October 2025.

• New applications will close on 24 January 2026.

• Re-applications for returning bursars will close on 30 November 2026.

Funza Lushaka Bursary Application Process

The following are the procedures to apply for the Funza Lushaka bursary for the 2026 academic year.

• Open the e-Gov portal at www.eservices.gov.za
• Register by providing personal information
• Log in to the system using the username and password created when registering
• On the e-Services Menu select Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme
• Enter the OTP received on the preferred channel
• Accept the Terms and Conditions
• On the dashboard, menu click on the 2026 application button
• Follow the steps to complete the required field with your information
• Accept the declaration to confirm the information captured

Hard Copy Application: This online application is a MUST. The programme accepts no hard copies.
