Mark your calendars! The University of the Free State opens its application portal for ALL programs (undergraduate and graduate) on April 1, 2024.

While applications for most programs will be accepted until September 30, 2024, some specific programs have an earlier deadline of May 31, 2024. Don’t miss out! Be sure to check the closing date for your chosen program well in advance.

Prepare these before you begin your application process:

Applicants are advised to gather all the required documents before commencing the online application. This facilitates the entire process. A working email and contact number must be provided by applicants because that is the channel through which the university may reach you. Your student number will be sent to this email to access as well to verify and activate before you can proceed with your online application.

Application Requirements:

Applicants are to upload their Certificates, National Identification Numbers, or Passport numbers. Your application will be rejected if you fail to do this. Transfer applicants must also produce conduct certificates from their previous universities. Another document is your parent’s ID or passport if you are younger than 18 years.

Application Fees for 2025 Online Applications:

At the University of the Free State, the application is free. Applicants get access to the online application without any charge from the university.

Application Procedure:

The Online Application System is designed for new prospective students who are making their first application to the University of Free State. It is not for students who are currently enrolled at the University. Follow the Application Process to Apply online for 2025. No walk-in or manual application for the 2025 admissions.

Admission Requirements:

For degree studies at the University of the Free State, the Applicant must have an NSC or NCV with an endorsement that allows entrance to degree studies (bachelor’s degree) or an equivalent
qualification. Applicant must in addition meet all the minimum admission requirements for the faculty programme he/she intends to study.
