How To Apply for NSFAS Funding Without Cell Phone

For the 2026 academic year, matriculants who intend to enroll or are already enrolled at a TVET College or university, and have an email address and an active cell phone number, should prepare for the NSFAS online registration. The registration will open on September 1, 2025, and close on November 30, 2025. NSFAS, a South African non-profit organization supported by the government, offers funding to financially disadvantaged students pursuing studies at TVET colleges and universities.

Is it possible to apply for funding without a cell phone?

The answer is NO: You will need a working cellphone, a valid cellphone number, and your email address to apply for NSFAS funding. A tablet or computer can also be used. If you don’t have a cellphone, you can borrow one from a trusted guardian or relative, but it’s best if you have your own phone number. No more than two applicants can use the same cellphone number or email address. This information is required to set up a myNSFAS account, which will be used to apply for funding

What Type of cell phone is expected when applying for NSFAS Funding in 2024

Although there are hard copy application methods, it is recommended to get a smart device that can access the internet, as some aspects of the process are online. You will be unable to create an account on a device that cannot connect to the internet. If you can’t afford a smartphone, consider going to a cafΓ© and paying for some time to use their laptops or desktop computers.
