One of the key documents to submit when applying for funding at the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is the CONSENT FORM. A consent form is a signed document that details an individual’s informed consent for funding. It is a legal document for both NSFAS and the applicants that can be used in court if any of the parties violates the outline terms.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a South African organization that provides financial assistance to students. The South African government funds this entity in order to empower citizens who want to further their education but are unable to do so due to financial constraints.

When to Apply for Funding in the year 2024-2025

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), as mentioned in the opening paragraph, provides financial assistance to students enrolled in various tertiary institutions (universities and technical colleges). Since September 28, 2023, the scheme’s portal has been open to accepting new students or beneficiaries. The scheme is however scheduled to close on a set date. How to Apply Nsfas For funding

Applying for funding through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is simple if you qualify. One must meet certain eligibility criteria, the first of which is to be a South African citizen. The others are listed on this page; please read the qualifications before applying.

If you meet the criteria, proceed to create your myNSFAS account by logging into the official website at www.nsfas.org.za.After you’ve created your myNSFAS account, navigate to the “Apply” tab and fill in the blanks with the answers to the questions on the screen. Again, after uploading all necessary supporting documentation, including the consent form, all of your personal information should be updated.

Required Documents for NSFAS Funding

Upload or submit the following documents when applying for funding:

  1. Copy of student ID / Birth certificate
  2. Copy of parent/s or guardian/ spouse ID
  3. Smart card: both sides of the card required
  4. Proof of income (where applicable)
  5. Persons living with disability (Disability Annexure A form)
  6. An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker
  7. An applicant who has indicated that s/he has no family member details and or abridged birth certificate must complete the Declaration: Non-SASSA
