NWU Applications Now Open for 2025/2026 Academic Year!

The North-West University is excited to announce that applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are now open! Prospective students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply for their dream programs starting April 1, 2024.

Important Deadlines:

Most programs: Applications close on August 31, 2024.
Select programs: Applications close June 30, 2024. These include:
- Music
- Graphic Design
- Occupational Hygiene
- Urban and Regional Planning

Late applications will not be considered.

Application Documents Required For NWU 2025 Applications

Undergraduate students

Grade 12 results, Grade 11 results (final results only)
copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
Copy of an Applicant’s Identity document
Copy of Applicant’s academic record (if applicable).
Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.

North-West University Application Fee Breakdown:

Domestic Students: No application fee applies.
International Students: Non-refundable application fee of R550.

Five (5) Easy Steps to Apply Online at NWU in 2025–2026

The five simple stages to applying to North-West University are as follows:

Step 1. Claim Your NWU Identity (STUDENT NUMBER):

Visit the NWU online application platform.
Click “New application” and choose “Create new student number.”
Fill in all required fields to activate your unique NWU ID.

Step 2. Unlock Your Student Portal:

Combine your student number and PIN (received in step 1) to log in.

Step 3. Log in and Explore Your Course Options:

Use your student number and PIN to access your application portal.
Explore the diverse range of programs offered by browsing through the yearbooks.
Gain insights into specific requirements, course choices, and admission methods.

Step 4. Showcase Your Qualifications (Prepare Your Supporting Documents)

Undergraduate Applicants:

Upload final grade 11 and 12 results (or matriculation certificate if applicable).
Include any completed undertaking forms and a clear copy of your ID.
If applicable, provide academic records, exemption certificates (USAF), and proof of identity for international students.

Postgraduate Applicants:

Submit a filled undertaking form, your ID, and relevant academic records.
International students need to include their results, passport, and fee information.
