The application window for North-West University’s 2026 intake is now open! To apply, visit the official NWU website and access the student portal to complete your online application. NWU Applications Now Open for the 2026 Academic Year!

The North-West University is excited to announce that applications for the 2026 academic year are now open! Prospective students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply for their dream programs starting April 1, 2025.

Important Deadlines:

  • Most programs: Applications close on August 31, 2025.
  • Select programs: Applications close June 30, 2025. These include:

Late applications will not be considered.

Application Documents Required For NWU 2026 Applications

Undergraduate students

  • Grade 12 results, Grade 11 results (final results only)
  • copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
  • Copy of an Applicant’s Identity document
  • Copy of Applicant’s academic record (if applicable).
  • Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
  • Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.

  • Additional documents for international prospective applicants:
    • A copy of relevant results
    • A copy of your passport

Postgraduate students

  • Completed mandatory undertaking
  • Copy of your ID
  • Copy of your academic record (if applicable).

NWU 2026 Online Application Fees and Payment

North-West University (NWU) is thrilled to announce that domestic students in South Africa can apply for the 2026 academic year completely free of charge.

North-West University Application Fee Breakdown:

  • Domestic Students: No application fee applies.
  • International Students: Non-refundable application fee of R550.

How to Apply Online to North-West University

Follow the guidelines below to complete your North-West University 2026 applications

  • Go to the online application portal for NWU.
  • For new candidates, click “New application” and choose “Create new student number”.
  • To activate your unique NWU ID, complete all needed fields.
  • To log in, enter your PIN and student number that you already have.
  • To access your application portal, enter your PIN and student number.
  • Examine the variety of programs offered by looking through the yearbooks.
  • Confirm that you fulfill all requirements relevant to the program.
  • Fill out the application with correct academic and personal information.
  • Upload any necessary supporting documentation, such as ID and academic records.
  • Verify the accuracy of your information and any supporting documentation.
  • Carefully go over your complete application to make sure it is accurate.
  • Before submitting, make sure every section is filled out accurately.
  • Click “Apply” to submit your application.
  • Keep a copy of your application confirmation for your records.
  • Monitor your application status regularly via the NWU portal
