Tshwane University of Technology: Tuition fees for 2025/2026 now available

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has announced that tuition fees for the upcoming academic year 2025/2026 are now public. Students are encouraged to review the fees before registering for the semester.

Students are responsible for paying all required fees, regardless of whether they attend classes or not. This applies even if the fees are partially or completely canceled.

The University considers requests for fee refunds and/or exemptions based on exceptional circumstances.

How tuitions are Paid at TUT

  • Tuition fees are payable per subject, except in the case of a dissertation or thesis.
  • If a subject is repeated, the required class fees have to be paid again.
  • The fees payable for the different subjects appear in a separate publication about fees.

How Much is the Tuition fee at TUT

  • The student has to pay a confirmation payment of R500 within three (3) weeks of the date of the acceptance letter, to preserve his or her place in the programme. Ignoring this will result in the automatic cancellation of the place.
  • That payment, less R220, shall be refunded only if a prospective student is prevented from registering for a valid reason for example if he or she fails Grade 12.

Minimum Payment before you can register for your courses

Both new and returning students must make a minimum initial payment of R1 500 before registering as the first installment of the total tuition costs paid. Before appearing on the student’s statement of accounts, payments paid to the university bank account must wait three (3) working days. The student’s statement of account will show an immediate adjustment for the electronic payment made at the university cashier counters.

TUT Class fees

First-semester programmes: The balance of the class fees is payable in three (3) installments: on 30 April, 31 May, and 30 June respectively.

Second-semester programmes

The remaining class costs are due in three (3) installments on the following dates: 31 August, 30 September, and 30 October.

Year programmes

The balance of the class fees is payable in nine (9) installments, from 30 April up to and including 30 October.

The research report, dissertation, or thesis

The balance is payable in nine (9) installments, from 30 April up to and including 30 October.

  2. Credit cards
  3. Debit cards
  4. Electronic payments via the Internet
  5. International bank drafts
  6. Postal orders.
