• Visit the official website at www.apply.ufs.ac.za.
• Click the “Apply” tab
• Select the “New Application” tab to begin.
• Enter your details
• Activate your account using the link sent to your email.
• Enter the reference number to start the application.
• Re-enter your contact details before clicking “Next.”
• Select a course only when you meet its requirements.
• Complete every field required
• Enter your academic and employment history
• Upload required documents
• Click the “I Accept terms and conditions” box.
• Click submit to send your application.

What You Need Before Applying

To apply, you will need:

• A valid email address and phone number
• Laptop, computer, smartphone, or tablet

Documents to upload:

• A scanned copy of your ID document.
• Your final Grade 11 or 12 results (in digital format, preferably PDF or jpeg).
• For postgraduate applications, include your research concept.

Guidelines for Uploading Supporting Documents

• All documents must be certified
• Scan each document individually
• Online results obtained from self-service portals are not accepted.

Important Notes:

• No application fee is required for the UFS 2027 intake.
• Ensure that you satisfy the minimum entry requirements listed in the 2027 Prospectus before applying.
• If you’re transferring from another institution, you must upload your study record and conduct certificate.

The University of the Free State (UFS) 2027 admission and registration period opens on 1 April 2026. Application closing dates vary by programme as follows:

• 31 May 2026 – Health Sciences and Sport programmes close

• 31 July 2026 – Nursing, Social Work, and Architecture close

• 31 August 2026 – International applications close

• 30 September 2026 – All other non-selection programmes close
