UFS Postgraduate Application and Registration 2024/2025
Do you still want to advance your academic career after earning a first or bachelor’s degree? It is never too late to enrol in postgraduate programmes at South African universities. It is always preferable to begin than to contemplate beginning. The University of the Free State offers a variety of postgraduate programs aimed at assisting corporate executives or industry players. They accept applications from people from all walks of life as long as they meet the requirements.
When can I register at UFS for 2024/2025
Students must report for first-semester registration in January and for second semester registration in early July. Provisional Registration Is Not Available For International Students. However, the application will be available in April 2023 for the 2024/2025 academic year. Late applications may be rejected, so applying early may do more good than harm for prospective applicants.
UFS Postgraduate Application Closing dates:
The official deadline is September 30, 2023. However, some courses do not have application deadlines or specific deadlines. Only when there are no more openings will the program be closed.
What are the Required Documents for the 2024/2025 academic year?
Uploading the correct set of documents improves applicants’ chances of acceptance to the university. For this reason, we have compiled a list of all the necessary supporting documents for prospective postgraduate applicants who wish to study at the University of the Free State.
- The completed and signed application form.
- Certified copies of relevant academic results/transcripts/information in English.
- Two passport photographs of yourself.
- Proof of deposit of the non-refundable application fee (refer to the application form for the amount).
- Certified copy of passport.
- SAQA/USAF verification document.
Who is eligible to apply to the UFS for a postgraduate program in the 2024/2025 academic year?
Your admission eligibility will be determined only after the University of the Free State receives your certified academic transcripts (which must be translated into English), a completed UFS application form, and a certified copy of your passport. Online applications are now available.
How to Apply for admissions to the University of the Free State
To complete the application form, follow the steps below:
- Visit the University’s URL at http://www.ufs.ac.za/
- Click on the Student tab, and then
- Click on the UFS Application forms
- Fill the Forms
- Upload the required documents as mentioned above
- Pay the relevant application fee for the 2024/2025 academic year
Application information for applicants outside South Africa
Please keep in mind that if you apply from outside South Africa, surface or airmail from your country may take longer than two to three weeks to arrive in South Africa. It is your responsibility to ensure that the university receives your application by the deadline. Your application will be delayed even further if you do not complete the application form as requested, do not send proof of payment of the non-refundable application fee, and do not attach photographs or academic results.

UFS Postgraduate Registration Documents for International students
Following the evaluation, the university may send all qualified applicants an offer letter. This letter includes registration and other post-application details. Prepare the following documents before the registration deadline to expedite the registration process. If you have not yet been notified by the university, you can
track the status of your application.
- Students must be in possession of a valid study visa issued for the UFS. A study visa issued for a different university is not acceptable. No international student will be allowed to register without a valid study visa issued for the UFS.
- To cancel the block on your student account, please bring the following documents with you on the day that you will be registering:
- Passport
- Study visa
- Proof of payment of registration deposit
- Original documentation as submitted with your application
- SAQA/USAF verification document (SAQA – POSTGRADUATE)
