UKZN 2027 Online Application System Open!

When to Apply for 2027 at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)

The 2027 application cycle at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) opened on 1 March 2026. Prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible to avoid last-minute issues and to secure consideration before programmes reach capacity.

All completed applications and supporting documents must be submitted by the relevant closing dates below:

Medicine: 30 June 2026 (No late applications will be accepted.)
All Other Programmes: 30 September 2026

Who Can Apply to UKZN

UKZN welcomes applications from:

First-time applicants: You are considered a first-time applicant if you have never had a UKZN student number.
Transfer applicants: Students currently registered at another institution who wish to transfer to UKZN.
The university also accepts applications from the international community

How to Apply

For the 2027 intake, first-time South African students must apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO). All other applicants, including international, returning, and transfer students, should submit their applications directly to UKZN via the official website: www.ukzn.ac.za.

Carefully follow the instructions provided on each screen to complete your application.
Upload all required documents, including certified copies of your ID or passport, academic certificates, proof of payment, and any other supporting documents requested.
Submit your completed application before the deadline to ensure it is considered.

Hard Copy Application

If you prefer to apply using a hard copy, you can:

Download the form from the CAO website at www.cao.ac.za.
Contact the CAO office by phone at 031 268 4444 to request a hard copy.
Visit the CAO office in person to collect a pre-printed form.

UKZN Application Fees for 2027

Early application: R210
Late application: R420

Exemption: Current UKZN students do not need to pay the application fee.
