The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has announced the official application dates for the academic year 2026. All prospective students, including those applying to undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs, must meet these dates. To be considered for the 2026 academic year, applicants must meet these deadlines and submit their forms properly.

UKZN 2026 Application Openings and Deadlines

Applications for the 2026 academic year at UKZN are now open. Applications are expected to reach the admission office by the close of the deadline.

Application Opening Date

Applications officially open at midnight for all programs: April 1, 2025

Application Closing date

Medicine (MBChB): Applications must be submitted to UKZN or CAO by June 30, 2025.
All other available programs: Applications must be submitted by September 30, 2025.

Late Applications: What You Need to Know

If you are unable to meet the deadline, there will be a second application opportunity starting on November 1. However, be prepared to pay an application fee of R410.00.

Can I Change My Qualification After Applying?

After submitting your application to UKZN, you will be unable to update or change your information. It is consequently critical to be cautious when filling out the form. You may apply for up to three qualifications on the same form. This provides flexibility in case you do not meet the entry standards for your initial pick.

How to Apply to UKZN

For South African Students:

Apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO):

Visit cao.ac.za and select “Apply.”
Read the details and click “Continue with Application.”
Enter your ID number and click “Submit.”
Scroll down and click “Continue with Application.”
Complete all required fields and click “Next.”
Click on “Continue with Online Application.”
A pop-up with your CAO number, password, and EasyPay number will appear—follow the instructions.
Fill in all requested information and click “Next.”
Enter your Next of Kin details and click “Next.”
Search for your school name, enter your attendance years, and click “Next.”
Click “Process My Application” to submit.
You will receive a notification confirming the successful submission.
Upload your supporting documents and pay online via the EasyPay system.
