Does the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) accept Hard Copy applications?
The application process page will guide you. University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) encourages prospective first-time and transfer applicants to apply online via the CAO office. Applicants can also download the application form from CAO’s official website and fill it out with a spot of ink and attach all supporting documents. Both hard and online applications are accepted at the University of KwaZulu Natal (Ukzn)
When you can apply for admission:
Only from April 1, 2023, will the admissions portal be open and it will conclude on September 30, 2023. After this date, applicants are unable to access the portal once again.
Is the Application form For Sale:
As was already mentioned, the university accepts both manual and electronic applications. For early submissions, these two ways have an application fee of R210. An applicant will be charged R420.00 for late applications. Applicants can also submit a direct application to Ukzn for admissions in 2023.
What Programmes are available at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN):
The University of KwaZulu Natal (Ukzn) offers programmes in many fields. Most of the programmes require class attendance as the programmes have a practical component. Should it be offered online, the programme page will indicate the option.
International applicants:
The application form is available from The UKZN website www.ukzn.ac.za under ‘Apply to UKZN’.

A large range of undergraduate programmes are offered by the four academic Colleges at UKZN:
- College of Agriculture, Engineering, and Science;
- College of Health Sciences;
- College of Humanities; and
- College of Law and Management
What are the minimum requirements for a Degree, Diploma, and certificate?
Bachelor’s Degree:
An NSC with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the Higher Education Institution (HEI), coupled with an achievements rating of 4 (50-59%) or better in any four (4) NSC subjects except Life Orientation.
Diploma:
A diploma pass requires 40% in four higher credit subjects, 30% in three lower credit subjects, and you may fail one subject.
Certificate:
A certificate pass requires a 40% pass in your home language, 2 subjects above 40%, 4 subjects above 30% and you may fail 1 subject. This pass allows you to study for a higher certificate.
