The University of Cape Town announces the opening of the application window for the 2025/2026 academic year. Applications will be accepted from April 1 to July 31, 2024. Interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

How to Apply to the University of Cape Town (UCT) for 2025-2026

You may submit an online application. To apply online, you are required to have a working email address and your South African ID number, and if you are an international student, you will need a Passport number.

You may submit a paper application if you are unable to apply online. Before the deadline of 31 July 2024, complete undergraduate application forms must be emailed to admissions-ug@uct.ac.za with the subject line “UCT Application Form 2025-2026.”

  • Demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like IELTS or TOEFL.

    Applicants must meet the following eligibility standards to be considered for admission to a degree program:

    • Applicants with a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) must complete a minimum of four 20-credit NSC topics with a grade of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59 percent) or better.
    • Matriculation endorsement is required for applicants with a South African Senior Certificate.
    • Applicants with non-South African school-leaving certificates must meet the matriculation exemption requirements. Please visit the Matriculation Board’s website for further information.
