When Is TUT Opening Applications For 2026

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is accepting applications for the January 2026 intake through its online application portal. Applications opened on April 1, 2025, and prospective students are encouraged to apply early to avoid the rush during the late application period. TUT Application Fee Payable For 2026

A non-refundable application fee of R240 is required, as well as certified copies of your identity document, Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate, and all other relevant documents, which must be submitted within the application deadline. The application fee applies to all prospective applicants and TUT students for the January 2026 intake.

Residence Accommodation Application for First-Year Students at TUT

First-year students must indicate on the official TUT admission application form if they wish to apply for residence accommodation. Students will be selected based on their unconditional acceptance for a full-time academic qualification at TUT. If there are too many eligible applicants, the date of unconditional acceptance by the faculty will be used to determine further selection.

To apply to the Tshwane University of Technology TUT, follow the steps below:

South African online application procedures

Visit www.tut.ac.za to get started.
Select the “MENU” tab from the page.
Select “Study at TUT” in the drop-down menu.
Select “I want to Study.”
Properly follow the directions.
Verify general entrance requirements and Entry Point Score (APS).
Click on the “New Applicant” button.
Enter your identity number.
Fill out all required fields.
Choose two study courses.
Provide your academic and employment history.
Enter your academic results.
Upload all necessary materials.
Pay application fees.

TUT Online Application for International Applicants

Please go to www.tut.ac.za and download the electronic application form.
Complete all the required sections in full.
Attach the relevant document and send it back to us via E-MAIL to the addresses mentioned below
Ignore the section where a school principal needs to sign.
Upon receipt of the application form, it will be processed and forwarded to the relevant academic department for approval and authorization.
After the approval by the academic department, the International Office will issue the student with an official Acceptance Letter and a Study Permit Letter.
Use the two letters to apply for a study permit at the nearest South African high commissioner or representative in your home country.
Apply for the study permit at least two months before departure.
All international exchange students who are nationals of visa-exempt countries, like the United States, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands Germany, etc., who plan to stay at the Tshwane University of Technology for three months or less, must obtain an endorsed visitors’ visa (Temporary Residence Permit) or a normal study permit.
A normal tourist visa is not sufficient to be registered and gain access to all university facilities.
The student’s final registration as an exchange student depends on the production of a valid visa obtained from the Immigration Official at the port of entry upon presentation of your Acceptance Letter
You are advised to carry a copy of the Acceptance Letter and the Study Permit Letter when traveling to South Africa.
Your return ticket serves as your repatriation guarantee.
Do not proceed to the Tshwane University of Technology without the Study Permit or the endorsed visa.
The relevant academic department will finalize your travel arrangements to the University with you.
Notify the International Office of your arrival once you are on campus.
The International Office and the relevant academic department will be responsible for the tuition fees of an exchange student.
