Getting your timing right is half the battle when it comes to university admissions. If you’re looking to join the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) for the 2027 academic year, you need to be ready to act long before the year begins.

For the 2027 intake, TUT is expected to open its online application portal on 1 April 2026. Because TUT is one of the most popular universities in South Africa, many competitive courses, especially in Science, Engineering, and Health Sciences, reach capacity almost as soon as they open.

In this guide, we’ll break down the exact opening and closing dates for 2027, the application fee, and a step-by-step walkthrough on how to submit your application online to ensure you don’t miss out on a spot at “The People’s University.”

TUT Application Fee Payable For 2027

A non-refundable application fee of R240 is required, as well as certified copies of your identity document, Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate, and all other relevant documents, which must be submitted within the application deadline. The application fee applies to all prospective applicants and TUT students for the January 2027 intake.

Residence Accommodation Application for First-Year Students at TUT

First-year students must indicate on the official TUT admission application form if they wish to apply for residence accommodation. Students will be selected based on their unconditional acceptance for a full-time academic qualification at TUT. If there are too many eligible applicants, the date of unconditional acceptance by the faculty will be used to determine further selection.
