Welcome to www.nsfas.org.za apply online for 2026, the official website of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) allows you to conveniently apply online for the 2026 academic year from 21 September 2025 to 31 January 2026. NSFAS is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic intake from all qualified and interested students seeking educational funding in South Africa.

Applying for financial aid through NSFAS will give students the resources to cover tuition, registration fees, housing, food, transportation, and living expenses every year until the course is completed.

Collect the NSFAS Required Documents For 2026

Before you begin the online application process, be sure you have all of the necessary information and documents. This will make it easier for you to finish the application. Here is a list of the documents you will require:

Smart card (Front and back page)
Proof of income (where applicable)
Disability Annexure A form (Disability student)
Copy of student ID / Birth certificate
Copy of parent/s or guardian/ spouse ID
An applicant who is recognized as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker
Declaration form: Non-SASSA
A certified copy of your most recent academic results
Proof of acceptance or provisional acceptance from a recognized public university or TVET college

In general, applicants for NSFAS 2026 must be South African nationals who are enrolled or plan to enrol in a public university or TVET college and come from a household with a combined income of less than R350,000.

Once you have successfully created your NSFAS account, log in to the NSFAS Online Application Form 2026 using your password and the newly created PIN. Complete all required fields and upload all supporting documents.

Click the SUBMIT BUTTON to submit once you are sure everything is completed. A confirmation message confirming the successful submission of your application will be sent to you.
