How To Apply Online At DUT For 2027
If you’re planning to apply to the Durban University of Technology (DUT) but aren’t sure where to start, this guide will walk you through the entire application process.
The application period for all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes runs from 1 March to 31 October 2026. Make sure you have a smart device, a stable internet connection, and your academic certificates ready to begin your application.
Returning undergraduate students, transfer students, and postgraduate applicants can apply online directly to DUT. However, all first-time undergraduate students must submit their applications through the Central Applications Office (CAO) portal.
Visit the official CAO website at www.cao.ac.za and click “Apply.”
Read the instructions, then click “Continue with Application.”
Enter your ID number and click “Submit.”
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Continue with Application.”
Fill in all required information accurately and completely.
Click “Next” to proceed, then select “Continue with Online Application.”
A pop-up window will display your CAO number, password, and EasyPay PIN. Review the guidelines carefully.
Click “Continue with Online Application” and submit all required information.
Enter your Next of Kin information and click “Next.”
When prompted, select your school, enter the years of enrollment and graduation, then click “Search” and proceed with “Next.”
Once your application is complete, click “Process My Application.”
After successful submission, a confirmation notification will appear on your screen.
Pay the application fee online using EasyPay.
Upload all supporting documents as required.
Applicants must scan and upload the following documents in the specified formats (PDF, JPEG, etc.) during the online application process:
Certified copy of ID and Birth Certificate
Final Grade 11 report (if currently in Grade 12) OR highest qualification achieved
Copy of study/residence permit (for non-South African applicants)
Proof of payment of the application fee
June Grade 12 report (if currently in Grade 12, submit as soon as available)
September/Trial Grade 12 report (if currently in Grade 12, submit as soon as available)
