Applications for admission to the Durban University of Technology’s undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees) Postgraduate and Honorary Degrees for the 2024/2025 academic year is open to any prospective applicants. Read for more information regarding the closing dates, application requirements, required documents, and other admission-related issues.
Any applicant wishing to start a new undergraduate or postgraduate qualification for the academic year 2024 must apply for admission at the Durban University of Technology Via the Central Application Office online application tool. The Durban University of Technology DUT online 2024 applications window is open from NOW until 30 November 2024 for all prospective applicants living in and out of South Africa
Applicants are also encouraged to read the admission requirements to ensure they qualify for their chosen courses. Applicants have to meet the general and specific faculty requirements in order to gain admission to the Durban University of Technology for the 2024/2025 Academic year.

How to Apply at DUT For 2024
To apply online at DUT for 2024/2025, applicants must follow the steps below:
- Visit the Central Applications Office (CAO) website: www.cao.ac.za
- Complete the CAO application form online
- Upload certified copies of your identity document and Final Grade 11 & Grade 12 certificate ( June/ Trial report if you have not written your final examination)
- The application form must reach the CAO office before the closing date of 30 November 2023. Due to the fact that some programs end earlier than 30 November 2023, please refer to specific programs for applicable ending dates as stated in the table above.
- Pay the application fee before submitting your application.
Please Take Note: Make sure that your application AND fee reach the CAO before the closing date. Submission of a completed application form does not mean that you have been granted admission as a student, or that you may register. All applicants will be notified via email/SMS, of the outcome of their application.

DUT Application Requirements For 2024
Upload the documents below when completing the CAO application form for the academic year 2024-2025
- Certified Copy of ID and Birth certificate
- Final Grade 11 Report (if you are in Grade 12) OR
- Highest qualification achieved
- Copy of study/residence permit (if you are a non-South-African applicant)
- Proof of Payment of Application Fee
- June Grade 12 Report (as soon as you receive it if you are currently in Grade 12)
- September/Trials Grade 12 Report (as soon as you receive it if you are currently in Grade 12)

Durban University of Technology (DUT) Admission Requirements 2024/2025
The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi).
Institutional and programme needs may require appropriate combinations of recognized NSC subjects and levels of achievement. For example, an institution may determine that a Higher Certificate in Architectural Design requires in addition to the NSC a specified level of attainment in Design and an associated recognized subject.
