NSFAS Application Forms For 2026

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is currently accepting applications for the 2026 academic year! Apply online commencing September 1, 2025, and submit by December 31, 2025. Prospective students who require financial assistance to begin or continue their studies at any accredited university or TVET college, after satisfying all of the criteria, can apply for finance, whether in the form of a bursary or a loan.

Remember to double-check the criteria and requirements for NSFAS to ensure you meet both the general and academic requirements before applying.

What You’ll Need to Apply

You’ll need the following to apply for NSFAS bursary for the 2026 academic year

  • Smart card (Front and back page)
  • Proof of income (where applicable)
  • Disability Annexure A form (Disability student)
  • Copy of student ID / Birth certificate
  • Copy of parent/s or guardian/ spouse ID
  • An applicant who is recognized as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker
  • Declaration form: Non-SASSA
  • A certified copy of your most recent academic results
  • Email Address and cell phone number

How to Apply for NSFAS 2026 Online

To apply for NSFAS:

  • Go to the official NSFAS website at www.nsfas.org.za online application portal 2026.
  • Click on the “Apply” button.
  • Register an account with your details.
  • Fill out the required application form.
  • Upload all necessary supporting documents.
  • Submit your completed application.
  • Wait for the application to be processed.
  • Check your application status regularly on the NSFAS portal.

How to Track NSFAS Application Status

After the closing date, you will have the opportunity to track and check the progress of your NSFAS 2026 application. To do this, you will need your password and PIN to access your NSFAS account dashboard and check your status.
