March 2025 University Applications for 2026

A few South African universities have already launched their application portals for the 2026 academic year. We are delighted to inform you that many more universities will open their 2026 application windows in March 2025. Start preparing as soon as possible so that you can submit your applications on time beginning March 1. This article will include all of the universities that will formally start their 2026 applications in March 2025.

Universities Opening Applications in March 2025

This article emphasizes the universities that will accept applications for 2026, beginning March 1, 2025. However, numerous South African universities will begin accepting applications in April, May, and June 2025.

Gather all supporting materials

Get your Identity document, certificates, transcripts, and other documentation on or before March 1, 2025. Remember to get the following application materials certified and scanned.

Certified copies of your ID and matric certificate/statement.
Grade 11 final report (if still in matric).
Grade 12 June report (optional for most universities).
Certified ID copies of your next of kin/parents.
Application fee slip and declaration form.

Your certification can be done at the nearest police station. The certification should be no more than three months old at the time of application and registration.

Meeting The Entrance Requirements

To apply to a South African university, you would normally require a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with strong results in relevant disciplines. A few universities also value a high APS score. The official prospectus contains information about your course’s requirements.

South African Universities 2026 Application Fees

The majority of these universities will charge an application and processing fee when they open in March 2025. However, many of them provide free walk-in and online applications. You can verify for yourself by visiting the official websites of these universities.
