How to Apply to the University of Johannesburg

Here are a few extra details to aid you with your application. Follow the advice listed below for a successful application:

Get access to the internet with a smart device (Laptop, Computer, Mobile phone, Tablet…)
Enter “www.uj.ac.za/Apply
Click on the ‘New Applicant” option if you are new
Select Yes/No from the drop box to indicate your Student Number
Select Yes/No from the drop box to indicate whether you are returning to complete an uncompleted application
Enter the Qualification token if applicable
Read the clause that pops up after the step above
Check the box ” I Accept“
Click on the “Next” Option to proceed
Enter your passport/ID number
fill in the blank spaces
Click on the “save and continue” to proceed to the next page
choose your Qualification
Upload your Documents (Ensure they are in prescribed formats.)
Submit your Application and monitor your status by visiting the official website

Foreign Applicants

Send in a completed application form together with any necessary documentation.
The use of online applications is completely free.

Application Supporting Documents

Final School leaving results when applying with international credentials or currently in Grade 12 (Final Grade 11 results)
Valid Passport Identity Document or Birth Certificate
Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any language other than English)
Provide proof of English Proficiency where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching

Accommodation: Please submit a completed residential application form together with your application to study at UJ if you require on-campus housing.

UJ Admission Requirements 2026

Learners who have not written the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Independent Examinations Board (IEB) final examinations, but fall in the categories listed below will be referred to the faculties* for faculty-specific selection:
ACE School of Tomorrow, NCV, NASCA, SC(a) N3/N4/N5/N6 results, and Any other final school-leaving certificates not aforementioned. PsyCaD evaluation and NBT results may be required.
Applicants must have the right combination of recognized National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Independent Examinations Board (IEB) subjects, as well as particular levels of achievement in these subjects, as specified in the prospectus, to gain entrance to a faculty and a specific program.
