The application period for the University of the Western Cape (UWC) for the academic year 2025-2026 is now open. If you’re interested in applying, take note that only online applications are accepted by the university and the application window runs from April 2, 2024, to September 30, 2024.

What is required to submit an online application form for the January 2025-2026 intake to the University of the Western Cape (UWC)?

You must have a smart device with internet access to apply or submit an online application to the University of the Western Cape. You can apply to the University of the Western Cape with your smartphone or any other internet-connected device. Internet Explorer (IE) version 7 or 8 or higher browsers is the best browser for the University of the Western Cape’s online applications due to its compatibility with the University of the Western Cape online application portal system.

Documents Needed for UWC Submission During the Online Application Process

Prospective students applying to the University of the Western Cape for the January 2025 intake should have the following documents available to upload while their application is being processed:

Certified Good Conduct Certificate from your current or former university
Module content and Yearbook descriptors from your institution for all of the completed
Modules, certified official academic transcript
Certificate for a certified degree (if applicable)
A senior certificate or a certified copy of your NSC certificate
Your identification document, certified (ID)

How to Apply at UWC

To begin, you must obtain an application form. You can download the application form from the University of the Western Cape’s website, contact its information department, and request that it be mailed to you, or pick it up at any of its campuses.

Please be aware that the NSFAS 2025 appeals process is now open to all returning, continuing, and new students. Within 30 days of receiving the unsuccessful status, students should file an appeal through their myNSFAS account. For more information on how to file an appeal, go to www.nsfas.org.za.

The University of the Western Cape Courses and Entry Requirements

The University has set the minimum academic requirements for admission to the University of the Western Cape study programmes in 2025.
The requirements are based on applicants’ South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results.
Applicants who hold certificates from a different examination system will be considered individually for admission.
If you satisfy the minimum admission requirements stated, this does not automatically mean that you will be admitted to the study programme at the University of the Western Cape.
The final decision on your admission will be based on your academic performance and the availability of space in the programme.
The better your academic performance above this minimum, the better your chance of being admitted to study at the University of the Western Cape in 2025.
