Finding financial aid after finishing your high school exams can be tough. The majority of high school graduates are unable to continue their education due to financial constraints beyond their control. What documents are required for funding in 2024?

The following documents are required for an Applicant to be eligible for an NSFAS bursary.

  1. Your active email and contact details
  2. A copy of your ID or birth certificate is required.
  3. Copies of parents’, guardians’, or spouse’s national identification cards
  4. If necessary, proof of income or a year’s worth of IRP5
  5. Your parents, guardians, or spouse’s proof of income.
  6. You do not need to present any proof of income if you are a SASSA grant recipient.
  7. A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form should be provided and submitted by all applicants with a disability.
  8. An applicant identified by the Department of Social Development as a Vulnerable Child must also submit a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

Applicants Also Need an academic qualification before grants will be disbursed in the year 2024

  • You need to have passed Grades 9 to 12 to receive NSFAS funding to study at a TVET college and Grade 12 to receive funding to study at a university or TVET college.
  • If you are approved for NSFAS funding, you will be required to meet the academic admission requirements of the university or TVET college before NSFAS allocates any funding to you.

What to do after securing the funds from Nsfas

Students after securing the fund must still adhere to certain requirements post-admission. some are:

  • Respect all academic standards imposed by universities as required by the university, and attend and take part in lectures, tutorials, and academic assistance programs.
  • Complete all prescribed tasks and/or assignments in accordance with the institution’s deadlines for performance.
  • Complete all assessments (both written and oral) as necessary to meet the institution’s performance standards.
  • The 50 percent pass requirement must be satisfied in order for a continuing student, also known as an N+2 student under the Higher Education Institution N+ norm, to enroll in a university.
