Does the North-West University (NWU) accept Hard Copy applications?

The application process page will guide you. University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) encourages prospective first-time and transfer applicants to apply online. No walk-in or manual application for the 2025 admissions. The university does not accept paper-based application

When you can apply for admission: Only from April 1, 2024, will the admissions portal be open and it will conclude on August 31, 2024. After this date, applicants are unable to access the portal once again.

Is the Application Form For Sale: As already discussed, the university only accepts online applications or electronic applications. Manual applications are not allowed in 2025. There is no charge for the online application. Online Application is free for South African Applicants and R550 for international students.

North-West University Online Application Steps

Create your NWU student number:

Go to the online application platform.
Click “Application Login” and then “Create new student number.”
Fill out all the required fields.
If you already have a student number, log in using your details.

Log in:

Use your student number and PIN to log in after receiving them.

Choose your program:

Fill out all the fields related to your desired program.

You can only submit one application to NWU per academic year

Upload supporting documents:

Undergraduate students:

Matric certificate or Grade 12/11 results.
ID copy.
Academic record (if applicable).
Exemption certificate (if needed).

Postgraduate students:

ID copy.
Academic record.

International students:

Relevant results copy.
Passport copy.

Submit your application:

After completing all the steps, click “Submit application” to send it to NWU.
Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Admission decisions are final, and there is no appeal process.

What are the minimum requirements for a Degree, Diploma, and certificate?

Bachelor’s Degree: A NSC with at least 30% in the language of instruction and instruction used by the higher education institution (HEI), as well as an accomplishments rating of 4 (50-59%) or better in any four (4) NSC subjects other than life orientation.

Diploma: A passing grade for a diploma is 40 percent in four subjects with higher credits, 30 percent in three subjects with lesser credits, and one subject may be failed.

Certificate: A certificate pass requires a 40% pass in your home language, 2 subjects above 40%, 4 subjects above 30% and you may fail 1 subject. This pass allows you to study for a higher certificate.
