The University of Pretoria (UP) hereby announces, for the information of the general public, applicants, parents, and guardians, that applications are still open for admission into its 1,175 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2027 academic year.
All prospective applicants are advised to visit the University’s official website and carefully complete the relevant application forms before the stipulated closing dates.
2027 Application Timeline
Due to the high volume of applications received each year, admission to the University of Pretoria is highly competitive. Only applications submitted between April and June—depending on the programme—will be considered for the 2027 academic year.
Please take note of the key dates below:
- Application Current status: Still Open and Available
- Closing Date for Veterinary Science: 31 May 2026
- Closing Date for All Other Undergraduate Programmes: 30 June 2026
Late Application Period
The University of Pretoria does not typically accept late applications, based on previous application cycles. Applicants are therefore strongly advised to submit their applications within the stipulated timeframe to avoid missing out and having to wait until the next application cycle.
Early submission is highly encouraged.
Who Can Apply to the University of Pretoria
Applications for the 2027 academic year at the University of Pretoria are open to individuals who wish to begin a new programme or change their current field of study. Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to:
- International students (citizens of countries other than South Africa)
- South African (domestic) students
- Students with disabilities
- Transfer students from other tertiary institutions
- Applicants under the age of 18 (minor applicants)

To complete your online application through PeopleSoft, ensure that cookies are enabled on your device.
- Apply Online: Sign in to your PeopleSoft account and complete the online application form.
- Upload Documents: Provide your ID/Passport and final school results (including academic records, if applicable).
- Indicate Residence Preferences: Select your preferred residence during the application process.
- Pay the Application Fee: Submit your application fee to finalize your application.
- Regularly Monitor the UP Student Portal: After submitting your application, ensure that you frequently check the UP Student Portal to track your application status and receive important updates or communications.
Application Fee and Payment Deadline
For the 2027 application cycle, all University of Pretoria applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of R300, regardless of the applicant’s country of origin or level of qualification.
Applicants are advised to ensure that payment is made before the applicable deadlines of 31 May or 30 June.
Things You Need to Know About UP 2027 Admission
- Select your residence based on the campus where your programme will be offered.
- The University of Pretoria offers funding opportunities based on the average percentage of your six (6) best subjects, excluding Life Orientation.
- Financial aid is also available in the form of student loans.
- Meeting the minimum requirements for a programme does not guarantee admission.
- Applicants must qualify for Bachelor’s degree studies (exemption) in order to register.
