- Closing Date: June 30, 2025 (All available courses)
- Submission of supporting documents: Midnight of June 30, 2025
Document Requirements for the University of Pretoria 2026 Applications
You will require the documents listed below based on your citizenship.
For Domestic Students:
- A copy of your most recent school results (Grade 12 or equivalent)
- A copy of your South African ID
- If you have previously attended another higher education institution, a copy of your academic transcript
- Proof of payment for the application fee
For International Students:
- A valid passport and identification pages
- Transcript or the latest academic results
- Proof of registration at your home university (if applicable)
- Proof of medical insurance
N.B.: Ensure all the documents above are certified and scanned before you submit them.
University of Pretoria Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee of R300 must be deposited into the University of Pretoria’s Standard Bank account, Account Number 012602604. Use your student number (provided after applying) as the reference. Failure to provide proof of payment will result in the rejection of your application.

How to Apply Online for the University of Pretoria 2026
To apply online:
- Visit the Application Portal: Go to www.upnet.up.ac.za/psc/upapply.
- Start a New Application: Select “Start New Application” from the drop-down menu.
- Accept Privacy Notice: Click “OK” on the privacy notice pop-up.
- Enter Personal Information: Fill in your details as requested.
- Security Code: Ensure the characters in the security code field are correct.
- Proceed to Next Step: Click the “Go” tab, and read the disclaimer carefully before proceeding (do not discard the page).
- Complete Application Form: Fill in your details in the provided fields and select “OK.”
- Confirm Application: On the next page, review and confirm your application, then click “Continue.”
- Receive ID and Temporary Password: A unique ID and temporary password will be emailed to you. A working email address is required.
- Login: Use your ID and temporary password to log in via the link in your email.
- Create a New Password: If you wish, create a new password.
- Save Progress: Click “Save and Next” to continue.
- Edit Application: The application summary page is now editable. You can make changes and upload necessary documents in the required format.
- Application Fee: Pay the non-refundable application fee via the university’s official account.
- Submit Application: Once all details are filled out and documents are uploaded, click the “Submit” button to complete your application.
How to Check Your UP Application Status
To track the status of your application at the University of Pretoria:
- Get access to internet connectivity
- Enter https://www.up.ac.za/online-application/article/2746918/application-status
- log in with your “u” username
- Enter your password
- Click on the Login Button
- Proceed to print your acceptance letter.

Online registration for the 2026 academic year will open to all new students accepted for the intake. The registration period typically runs from January to February of the year of study.
