The 2026 application period is now officially underway, and the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is inviting the general public to apply for undergraduate and graduate programs for the 2026 academic year. All applications must be submitted online or by manual process.

When to Apply to DUT For 2026

The Durban University of Technology application period opens on April 1, 2025, and closes on September 30, 2025. Ensure that your application and fee are submitted to the CAO before the deadline. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or registration. Applicants will be notified of the outcome via email/SMS.

Document Requirements for DUT 2026 Applications

You will require the documents listed below based on your citizenship.

For Domestic Students:

  • A copy of your most recent school results (Grade 12 or equivalent)
  • A copy of your South African ID
  • If you have previously attended another higher education institution, a copy of your academic transcript
  • Proof of payment for the application fee

For International Students:

  • Indemnity Form
  • Suretyship Form
  • M65 DUT Deposit Slip
  • Bank Details for Electronic Transfer
  • Certified copies of your identity document

DUT Application Fee Required For 2026

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) application fee for 2026 varies based on submission time and nationality:

  • South African applicants: R250
  • International applicants: R300

How to Apply Online for DUT 2026

Except for first-time undergraduate students, who should apply through the Central Application Office portal, all other applications must be submitted directly to the Durban University of Technology Admissions Office via www.dut.ac.za

To apply via the CAO online:

  • Visit cao.ac.za and select “Apply.”
  • Read the details and click “Continue with Application.”
  • Enter your ID number and click “Submit.”
  • Scroll down and click “Continue with Application.”
  • Complete all required fields and click “Next.”
  • Click on “Continue with Online Application.”
  • A pop-up with your CAO number, password, and EasyPay number will appear—follow the instructions.
  • Fill in all requested information and click “Next.”
  • Enter your Next of Kin details and click “Next.”
  • Search for your school name, enter your attendance years, and click “Next.”
  • Click “Process My Application” to submit.
  • You will receive a notification confirming the successful submission.
  • Upload your supporting documents and pay online via the EasyPay system.

How to Check Your DUT Application Status

Use the procedures listed below to find out the status of your application at the Durban University of Technology:

  • Go to www.dut.ac.za or www.cao.ac.za
  • Select the application year (e.g., 2025 or 2026).
  • Enter one of the following: CAO number, DUT student number, ID number, or passport number.
  • Click the “Check” button to view your admission status.
