First Year Registration 2026-Nelson Mandela University
Prospective students accepted for undergraduate courses such as diplomas, certificates, higher certificates, postgraduate diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, or those upgrading to master’s or doctoral qualifications are encouraged to register for the 2026 academic year at Nelson Mandela University. NMU has opened the 2026 registration portal online for all approved and selected students.
If your application is accepted, there’s no need to visit the campus for registration or inquiries, as the entire registration process is handled online. Nelson Mandela University Registration Fees 2026
Degree Programmes, Postgraduate Diplomas and Occasional Studies:
- Full-time students R 8 900.00
- Part-time students R 5 100.00
- Medical degree (inclusive of the device and Non-tuition fee levies) R24675.00
Diploma/Certificate Programmes:
- Full-time students R 6 300.00
- Part-time students R 4 400.00
International Students:
- International students are required to pay all fees in full before registration.
How to Pay the Registration Fee
Pay your registration fee using one of the following method
- Cashier Pay Points: Payments made at NMU cashier points are processed immediately and credited to your student account; ensure the amount and student number are correct on the receipt.
- Credit and Debit Card Payments: Payments for fees, printing, meals, etc., can be made online via NMU’s website or at the campus cashier, but the cardholder must be present for in-person payments.
- Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT): For EFT payments, use your student number (without the ‘s’) as the reference to ensure the payment is linked to your account, and ensure the beneficiary is NMU.
Please Note:
Kindly ensure that the bank details of Nelson Mandela University and your student number are captured correctly. The proof of payment presented to Nelson Mandela University must
indicate that the transaction was successfully processed. Post-dated payments are not acceptable.
Direct deposits (at any bank): Direct deposits can only be acknowledged if you state your STUDENT NUMBER (without the ‘s’) as a reference on your deposit slip. Your student number will enable us to associate the payment with your student account.

Step 2: Register online and print your proof of registration and where applicable, your lecture timetable. Details on how lectures will be presented will be shared with you by your lecturers for each module.
Step 3: Residence registration (if applicable)
