How Do I Apply For UNISA 2026 For The First Time

The University of South Africa is now accepting applications from new students or first-time applicants for various 2026 academic courses. You must apply for admission to the 2026 academic year within the deadline. Admission is open to all potential applicants wishing to begin new qualifications at the University of South Africa for the first semester. The UNISA application form is currently open to everyone, regardless of age, race, or religion

Who is a First-time student?

Everyone starting a new qualification, including first-time Unisa applicants, must apply for a Unisa Student Number.

You are considered to be a new student if:

Which qualification should a Unisa first-time applicant select?

Unisa careers are a work in progress, and you must make career decisions regularly, including what to study. Your first step should be to determine what types of changes you want to prepare for. If you wish to be an accountant, for example, you must select a qualification such as an Accounting science degree to prepare you.

The next step is to conduct research on yourself (your interests, values, and skills) and employment options (through Google and job websites, in-person and online conversations with professionals, job shadowing, and volunteer work). This procedure will assist you in determining which qualifications are more relevant to your job. Complete the career counseling tasks to assist you in deciding what to study.

Documents Needed For Unisa Application:

You will need to upload these in digital format, such as PDF, into the Application Form. Please prepare your digital documents for upload. When requested, please UPLOAD the necessary documents.

  • Copy of your school qualifications
  • Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
