University of South Africa (UNISA) Online Application Dates

Prepare to apply for the academic year 2024/2025.  The online application period will run from September 1st through November 10th, 2024. Do not apply after the deadline since no late applications will be accepted.

Documents to be submitted if you are a first-time NDP applicant:

Remember the following documents are essential when submitting your application online.

  • Where applicable, a letter of permission/recommendation from your previous university
  • A letter of motivation as to why you want to register for NDP
  • An official academic record issued by your previous university (if applicable)
  • Copy of your ID or passport
  • A copy of your Grade 12 certificate
  • Proof of address

The official Closing date for the 2024 applications is 10 November 2024. Online applications are open for all new and returning students

University of South Africa (UNISA) Courses and Requirements

If you submitted for admission during the previous application period (2023-2024) but did not submit all required supporting documents or pay the application fee, you must reapply during this application period (2024-2025). Your previous application’s student number is still valid, but you must pay the application fee this time before the closing date.

The following are the courses with their respective requirements that must be met by all prospective applicants

  • Hold a Senior Certificate with an endorsement indicating that you have been exempted from the matriculation requirement
  • A maximum of 50% of the prescribed credits may be awarded in the form of credits and exemptions
  • Formal education at a tertiary institution (e.g. formal certificate, diploma, and degree qualifications) and informal learning (e.g. knowledge or skills acquired during practical work experience, including community work in a relevant field)
  • SAQA evaluation and the syllabus

Please collect this information from myUnisa and submit your academic record as part of the application process if you have previously studied via Unisa. Please keep in mind that you do not need to get this academic record validated because Unisa can cross-check the information against the Unisa database.

When and who should apply for non-degree purposes (NDP)?

Due to limited capacity at the school, admission and registration for NDP are restricted and will only be considered in extraordinary instances. Admission to study a module for NDP will be considered only if the module’s admission requirements and/or prerequisites have been met. Applications for undergraduate qualifications for the 2024 academic year will be accepted from September 1 to November 13, 2024.

  • Under college, select “Occasional”
  • Under the category, select “NDP”
  • Select Unisa 2024 Admissions

Unisa Application Outcome & Offer 2024

Please bear in mind that even if you meet all of the requirements that follow, you will not be automatically accepted to study at Unisa. Students will be admitted based on the number of spaces available for each qualification. Remember that the “first come, first served” rule does not apply.

Unisa will notify you of the final decision on your application.

You must accept or decline Unisa’s offer within 10 days of receiving it.

Before accepting their offer and registering for the 2024 semester 1 academic year, first-time Unisa applicants must complete the First-Year Experience MOOC (massive open online course).
