Applications are now open to study at the University of Limpopo (UL) for the 2026 academic year! UL is accepting applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs starting in January 2026, with limited spots available. In this guide, we will show you how to start a new application to the University of Limpopo.

Ensure you meet the academic requirements of the course you intend to apply for and submit all documents within the application period.

What You’ll Need To Start A New Application

To start a new application at the University of Limpopo for 2026, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Make sure you have all of your supporting documentation ready.
  • Your local police station must certify these documents.
  • The Certification must be no more than 60 days old at the time of application.
  • Use a browser that is compatible with all of your applications and inquiries.
  • Check that your ID card is a government-issued identification card.
  • Fill out all of the fields marked with a red *.
  • Your academic credentials must be a scanned copy of the original issued by your previous institute.
  • Indicate on the University of Limpopo application form if you require campus housing.
  • Examine the entry requirements for your preferred course.

Please Note:

The online application for the 2026 January intake at the University of Limpopo will be open from April 1, 2025, to October 31, 2025. Remember that closing dates vary by course, so check the full list of UL courses and their respective closing dates or deadlines for the 2026 intake.

Application Fee

There is an application fee for applying to the University of Limpopo, and if you do not pay it, your application will be rejected.

The handling or application fee for online applications is R200 for South African applicants and R750 for international applicants. The University of Limpopo will only accept and process your application if all required documents, including proof of payment of the application fee for 2026, are received within the application deadlines.

Application Materials

Prospective students applying to the University of Limpopo for the 2026 January intake must submit the required documents along with their online application. Failure to include these documents will result in an invalid application, which may be rejected.

  • Your ID if you are a South African citizen
  • Your passport if you are an international student
  • Your guardian/parent’s ID or passport if you are younger than 18 years
  • National Senior certificate if you have already matriculated
  • Your final Grade 11 results with the school’s Stamp if you are still in Grade
  • Your academic record, only If you are a current student at another Institution of higher learning
  • USAF accreditation from the examination board for South African universities. Only if you are an international student.
  • Apply to mbsaf.3.za for conditional exemption foreign conditional exemption, or mature age conditional exemption.

  • South Africa’s Medical aid cover
  • Student Visa
  • Proof of English proficiency

UL Admission Requirements For 2026

Prospective students who wish to enrol in any undergraduate programme at the University of Limpopo should meet the following requirements

  • Matriculation Certificate (before 2008)
  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor exemption
  • National Certificate (Vocational)
  • Good Admission Point Score (APS)
  • You need to complete the Placement Test

How to Start a New Application 

To start a new application at the University of Limpopo (UL), you must follow the steps below for 2026:

  • Visit www.ul.ac.za.
  • Register with the I enabler.
  • Go to the academic application page.
  • Examine the application guidelines before clicking Accept.
  • Go to the school you attended, select School Name, and save.
  • Enter your high school subjects here.
  • Go to Disabilities, then Name, and then select the options before saving.
  • Continue to the application submission page.
  • Enter your academic credentials, save, and continue.
  • Make sure to pay your application fee before proceeding.
  • Upload the necessary documents, save, and proceed.
  • To upload the required document, do the following:
    • Go to the academic application
    • Go to entering School leaving subjects
    • Scroll down until you see “Load or view Documents and click Choose a category
    • An Icon will pop up and then click.
    • Click Upload and then proceed by clicking Browse
  • Finally, click the Finished button to submit your application form in its entirety.
