Johannesburg Institute of Engineering and Technology (JIET) Opens Applications for the 2025 Academic Year! The Johannesburg Institute of Engineering and Technology (JIET) is now accepting applications for the 2025 academic year! The application portal will be open from April 1st to November 30th, 2024. We encourage all prospective students interested in pursuing their studies at JIET to submit their applications online during this period.

Applications are Open for the JIET 2025/2026 Academic Year!

JIET invites all prospective students interested in joining the institute for the 2025/2026 academic year to apply through its online application portal. Applications are open from April 1st, 2024.

  • Certified copy of your ID document (e.g., National ID card, Passport, Asylum document).

Academic Qualifications:

  • Certified copy of your Matric Certificate or equivalent.
  • Certified copy of your highest academic certificate obtained to date.

Additional Information:

  • Two recent passport-sized ID photographs.
  • Proof of payment for the application fee.

Early application is highly recommended! This ensures you secure your spot in the program of your choice.

Post-matric programs:

  • Academic qualification: Have you passed Grade 12 (or N3/Level 4)? If so, you’re eligible to apply! You can use your November Grade 11 or September Grade 12 results for your application.

Pre-matric programs:

  • Academic qualification: For these programs, you’ll need a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 2-4. A Grade 9 certificate is also required.
  • Entrance test: Be prepared to take an entrance test to assess your suitability for the program.

Additional information:

  • JIET offers full-time classes from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
  • Part-time classes are available on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Applying to Johannesburg Institute of Engineering and Technology (JIET)

There are two main ways to apply to JIET, depending on your academic background:

  1. Post-matric programmes:
  • Who can apply: This applies to anyone who has passed Grade 12 (South African National Senior Certificate – NSC) or its equivalent, N3, or Level 4 qualification.
