NMU 2027 Application Window: April 1 – September 30, 2026
Breakdown of Closing Dates:
- 30 June 2026–Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), and Bachelor of Radiography (BRad).
- 03 August 2026– All other programmes (excluding MBChB, BPharm, and BRad).
- 30 September 2026– Late applications for programmes other than MBChB, BPharm, and BRad.
- 30 September 2026– All international student applications.
- 30 September 2026– All student housing applications

Document Requirements for NMU 2027 Applications

You will require the documents listed below based on your citizenship.

A verified copy of your Grade 11 final test results or
A certified copy of your most recent Grade 12 exam results (June/September) (no March results), or
A certified copy of your matriculation certificate/statement of results if you have already passed Grade 12/completed schooling,
certified copies of your diploma/degree certificates plus academic record(s) and certificate(s) of conduct if you have studied elsewhere,
A certified copy of your ID (birth certificate if still waiting for ID),
A certified copy of the identity document of your parent/legal guardian/surety,
If you are a dependent, if you are presently in school, or studying at a tertiary institution, or if you have recently left school and do/will not have permanent work when applying or studying at the university, you must provide a declaration by your parent / legal guardian/surety.

N.B.: Ensure all the documents above are certified and scanned before you submit them.

Nelson Mandela University Application Fee

South African citizens are not required to pay an application fee, while international students must pay an R500 fee. Students with permanent residency or a valid South African identity number are exempt from the application fee.

The non-refundable application fee of R500 must be deposited into the Standard Bank account: 080263011. Use your student number (provided after applying) as the reference. Failure to provide proof of payment will result in the rejection of applications.
