The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened applications for TVET College Semester 2 funding for the 2025 academic year. ✅ Who Qualifies for the NSFAS 2025 TVET Bursary?
To be eligible for NSFAS funding as a TVET college student, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident with a valid SA ID number.
- Be registered or intending to register at a public TVET College.
- Be pursuing an NSFAS-approved qualification such as:
- Pre-Vocational Learning Programme (PLP)
- National Certificate (Vocational) – NC(V)
- NATED/Report 191 programmes (N1-N6)
- DHET-approved occupational programmes
- Your household income must be:
- R350,000 or less per annum (general applicants)
- R600,000 or less per annum (for applicants with disabilities)
- SASSA grant recipients are automatically financially eligible if they meet academic criteria.

- First-time entering (FTEN) students: Automatically considered upon registration.
- Continuing students:
- Must pass 70% of enrolled subjects each academic year.
- NC(V) students must pass a minimum of 5 subjects.
- Report 191 students must pass a minimum of 3 subjects.
- The N+1 Rule applies:
- “N” = minimum time to complete the qualification.
- NSFAS adds 1 extra academic term for reattempts.
- Students with disabilities qualify for N+2 support.
