NSFAS funding aids low-income South African students in obtaining tertiary education qualifications. The preparation of the 2025 academic year application season is in progress with the official opening date for 2025 bursary applications now set and confirmed.

Application Date For NSFAS Funding 2025
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will open applications for 2025 on 16 September 2024, with a deadline of 30 November 2024, giving applicants 91 days to complete and submit their forms.

Who Qualifies to be Funded By NSFAS
The NSFAS funding eligibility criteria mandate that South African citizens have a gross income of R350,000 or less annually. NSFAS funding is basically for the brilliant but needy South African students.
NSFAS Bursary Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for an NSFAS bursary for your studies,
- A student in South Africa must be registered or intending to register for an approved qualification at a public university or TVET college.
- Students from households with income exceeding R350,000 per annum cannot apply for NSFAS bursaries as they are not eligible for such funds.
- Students with disabilities are eligible for NSFAS funding if they have a household income of up to R600,000 per year.

- Visit the Nsfas website at www.nsfas.org.za in the first place.
- choose “myNSFAS” in the drop-down menu.
- You must first create an account to access the application portal.
- To finish the section, click the Create a myNSFAS account option.
- To begin your NSFAS application procedure, click the “Apply” link.
- The answers to the questions on the screen should be used to fill in the blanks.
- You should update all of your data.
- Please include any required supplementary materials.
- Finally, click “Submit” to send your application for evaluation.
What to Expect After Submitting Your NSFAS Application
NSFAS conducts post-application eligibility checks, makes immediate funding decisions for SASSA applicants, requires uploading supporting documents, and allows students rejected to appeal through the NSFAS system.
