The 2026 application period is now open. The University of Fort Hare invites the public to apply for undergraduate and graduate programs for the 2026 academic year. Applications can be submitted online or manually.

Be sure to submit your application according to the dates below to be considered for the 2026 intake at the University of Fort Hare

  • University of Fort Hare (UFH) 2026 Applications Now Open as of Sunday, June 1, 2025
    • Undergraduate Applications: Closes on 31 October 2025
    • Postgraduate Applications: Closes on 29 November 2025

Who qualifies to apply for admission at UFH?

  • Persons applying for the first time at the University of Fort Hare
  • Persons who were not enrolled in any course at the University of Fort Hare before
  • An applicant who did not get a University of Fort Hare Student number in any previous year

Document Requirements for UFH 2026 Applications

Failure to upload all the required compulsory documents will result in your application not being considered

Already Finished Matric

  • Certified ID Copy
  • Proof of Payment for the Application Fee
  • National Senior Certificate or Equivalent
  • Consent Form from Guardian {if less than 18 years old}

Currently Doing Grade 12

  • Certified ID Copy
  • Proof of Payment for the Application Fee
  • Grade 12 Mid-Year / June Results
  • Consent Form from Guardian {if less than 18 years old}

International Undergraduate

Already Finished High School Certificate or Equivalent

  • Certified Passport / ID copy
  • Proof of Payment for the Application Fee
  • Certified copy of final High School Certificate or Equivalent
  • USAf Exemption certificate
  • Consent Form from Guardian {if less than 18 years old}

Compulsory Required Documents for Re-applicants

  • Proof of Payment for the application fee
  • Certified Passport or ID Copy
  • Certified copy of final High School Certificate or Equivalent
  • Certified copies of previous qualifications {for Postgraduate applicants}
  • SAQA verification certificate

N.B.: Ensure all the documents above are certified and scanned before you submit them.

How to Apply Online for UFH 2026

To submit an online application to the University of Fort Hare: Use your computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device to access the internet, then follow the instructions below.

  • Go to www.ufh.ac.za to access the UFH Online Application portal.
  • In the upper-right corner of the homepage, choose “Apply Now” and click on it.
  • Verify that you have all the necessary data and paperwork by consulting the student guide and online application checklist.
  • Click on your citizenship status.
  • Type in your identification number.
  • Read and agree to the terms and conditions.
  • Give your name, address, and phone number.
  • Fill out the application form completely.
  • Complete all required fields indicated by a red asterisk (*).
  • You can save your work and come back to finish the application at a later time.
  • Decide which study courses to take.
  • Describe your educational background.
  • Fill out the online application and submit it.

How to Check Your UFH Application Status

To track the status of your application at the University of Fort Hare:

  • Visit the University of Fort Hare website: www.ufh.ac.za.
  • Select and click on the Student Enquiry Link.” from the drop-down menu.
  • Please click on Academic Admissions Status
  • Enter your application number and click “Submit”.
  • Your application status will be displayed on the screen.

Registration for 2026 at UFH

The University of Fort Hare registration period will begin on January 15, 2025, and end on February 5, 2025. The first semester of 2025 will not allow late registration. As soon as they receive their acceptance letter, applicants are encouraged to register. The registration process is first-come, first-served.
