The University of Fort Hare has officially opened applications for the 2026 academic year. The application form for manual submissions is now available. Both undergraduate and graduate programs are open for applications, so mark your calendars and get ready to apply!

Application Dates For UFH 2026 Admission

  • Application Opening Date: June 1, 2025 (All courses)
  • Undergraduate Applications: Closes on 31 October 2025
  • Postgraduate Applications: Closes on 29 November 2025

Application Fee for UFH 2026 Admissions

All applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of R120.00

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for degree study at UFH, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • South African National Senior Certificate (NSC): Pass at least 4 subjects with a rating of 4 (50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
  • South African Senior Certificate: Must have matriculation endorsement.
  • Minor Applicants: A declaration from a parent or guardian is required for applicants under 18 years of age.
  • Applicants holding non-South African school-leaving certificates must qualify for a matriculation exemption certificate

How to Apply at UFH

Applications must be submitted online or manually—email applications are not accepted. Hardcopy application forms can be submitted at any of the four UFH campuses or sent by post.

Steps to Apply Online to UFH:

Follow the steps below to complete your UFH 2026 applications

  • Go to the Online Applications Portal.
  • Click on New Applicant to begin the application process.
  • Create an account by entering your details and setting up a Student Number and PIN.
  • Once logged in, click on New Applicant Application.
  • Read and accept the POPI Act.
  • Complete the required sections.
  • Select your courses
  • Enter your academic results
  • Scroll down to the Upload Documents section at the bottom of the page.
  • Click Show, then click Upload Documents to upload all necessary documents for your application.
