University of Johannesburg 2027 Application Dates Now Open

The University of Johannesburg has officially released its 2027 application dates, indicating when applications will be accepted and processed. If you plan to apply for an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at UJ, take careful note of these deadlines and act accordingly, as late submissions may not be accepted for certain courses.

In this article, we have outlined all the programmes and their respective application dates, including the opening and closing deadlines. Review these dates carefully and learn how to apply early to improve your chances of consideration.

When to Apply to UJ for 2027

Applications to study at the University of Johannesburg for the 2027 academic year will generally open on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. From this date, you can begin your 2027 academic journey by submitting either an online or manual application, depending on the available options.

UJ Application Deadlines for 2027 Admission

You must submit a fully completed UJ application form, together with all required supporting documents, before the relevant closing date below.

Undergraduate Programmes

All undergraduate programmes close on 31 October 2026.

Postgraduate Programmes

Most postgraduate programmes close on 31 October 2026 at 12:00 (noon).

Exceptions

Faculty of Engineering

MEng/MPhil in Engineering Management (Coursework) closes on 30 September 2026 at 12:00 (noon).

Faculty of Education

BEd Honours in Educational Psychology closes on 31 October 2026.
MEd in Educational Psychology closes on 24 June 2026.
Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) closes on 31 August 2026.

Faculty of Humanities

MA in Clinical Psychology and MA in Counselling Psychology close on 8 July 2026.
BA Honours in Psychology and BSc Honours in Psychology open on 1 July 2026 and close on 30 September 2026.

College of Business and Economics

All programmes close on 30 September 2026.

How to Apply

APPLY NOW TO UJ by following the steps below

Get access to the internet with a smart device (Laptop, Computer, Mobile phone, Tablet…)
Enter “www.uj.ac.za/Apply
Click on the ‘New Applicant” option if you are new
Select Yes/No from the drop-down box to indicate your Student Number
Select Yes/No from the drop-down box to indicate whether you are returning to complete an uncompleted application
Enter the Qualification token if applicable
Read the clause that pops up after the step above
Check the box ” I Accept“
Click on the “Next” Option to proceed
Enter your passport/ID number
fill in the blank spaces
Click on the “save and continue” to proceed to the next page
Choose your Qualification
Upload your Documents (Ensure they are in the prescribed formats.)
Submit your Application and monitor your status by visiting the official website

Valid email address (Gmail or Yahoo mail account).
Document upload requirements when applying online (not applicable to applicants currently in grade 12 or internal transfer/Senior applicants):
- All documents must be certified
- Ensure that the scanned file is a maximum of 512KB
- Documents are scanned in any of the following types – tiff, pdf, jpg, or gif
- Each document must be scanned and uploaded as separate attachments
Alternatively, documents can be emailed to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference/student number noted in the subject line of the email.
