Are you interested in applying to the University of Johannesburg’s undergraduate programs as an international student? The University of Johannesburg is inviting applications from all potential overseas students for the 2025–2026 admissions cycle, which opens from April 1 to October 31, 2024. You can submit your application manually or electronically.

Important Deadlines for International Undergraduate Applications in 2025 and 2026

The application deadline for all international undergraduate programs at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for the academic year starting in January 2025 is October 31, 2024. This deadline applies to all applicants, regardless of their nationality.

Please note that late applications are not accepted for international students. Therefore, it is important to submit all required application documents, including academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and proof of English language proficiency, by the deadline.

International application fee: waived online, R200 otherwise

The international application fee is R200 and must be submitted with a completed application form and supporting documents. However, if you apply online, there is no application fee.

Here’s what you need to apply with International Credentials

Required Documents:

  • Academic transcripts: Submit your final school leaving results (Grade 12 for current students) or Grade 11 results if you’re still in your final year.
  • Identification: Include your valid passport or identity document or your birth certificate.
  • English translations: If your documents aren’t in English, provide sworn translations.
  • English proficiency: Demonstrate your English skills if English wasn’t your primary language in school.

  • The University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programs) Alternatively, you may elect to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP).

UJ Admission Requirements

To study for a South African degree applicants are required to have achieved a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. All International applicants with high school qualifications achieved outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate studies.
