Apply Online at North-West University For 2025-2026

The application for North-West University’s 2025 intake is open! Apply for your undergraduate or postgraduate program online at www.nwu.ac.za by August 31, 2024 Applications for 2025 open on April 1st, 2024!

Already applied? Don’t worry, you can still:

Update your details: Edit your online application with any changes.
Switch your program/campus: If space allows, call the Central Applications Office (018 285 4320) to request a change. Have your student number and contact info handy!

Note: This applies only to those who’ve already submitted their applications.

North-West University Step-by-step Online Application Guide for 2025

1. Create your University Number:

Go to www.nwu.ac.za and hover over “Study at NWU”.
Click on “Apply Here”.
Select “Undergraduate Student”.
Click on “Apply Online”.
Click “Create a university number”.
Fill in your details and create a strong password.
Your university number and PIN will be sent to your email and phone.

2. Complete your Application:

Open the application page.
Follow the orange tabs to complete each section:
- Qualification type & method
- Accommodation (optional)
- Previous academic record
- School information
- Preferred Campus
- Course selection (up to 3 choices)
- Biographical information
- Contact information
- Post-school information
- Next of kin
- Non-academic achievements
- Electronic documents (upload required documents)

3. Review and Submit:

Carefully review all your information.
Click “Submit Application” to send it to NWU.

North-West University Online Application Documents Required

Undergraduate students

Grade 12 results, Grade 11 results (final results only)
copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
Copy of an Applicant’s Identity document
Copy of Applicant’s academic record (if applicable).
Applicants currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.

Additional documents for international prospective applicants:
- A copy of relevant results
- A copy of your passport

Postgraduate students

Completed mandatory undertaking
Copy of your ID
Copy of your academic record (if applicable).
