Apply Online to Study at North-West University in 2027

Prospective students with Grade 11 or 12 results, or an equivalent qualification, who wish to continue their studies in 2027 are invited to apply to study at North-West University. The application window officially opens on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

When Does North-West University Close 2027 Applications?

NWU’s application period for the 2027 academic year is expected to close on 31 August 2026 for most undergraduate programmes.

However, some programmes may have earlier closing dates, especially those with limited spaces or additional selection requirements. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications well before the deadline to avoid missing out.

North-West University Step-by-step Online Application Guide 

1. Create your University Number:

  • Go to www.nwu.ac.za and hover over “Study at NWU”.
  • Click on “Apply Here”.
  • Select “Undergraduate Student”.
  • Click on “Apply Online”.
  • Click “Create a university number”.
  • Fill in your details and create a strong password.
  • Your university number and PIN will be sent to your email and phone.

2. Complete your Application:

  • Open the application page.
  • Follow the orange tabs to complete each section:
    • Qualification type & method
    • Accommodation (optional)
    • Previous academic record
    • School information
    • Preferred Campus
    • Course selection (up to 3 choices)
    • Biographical information
    • Contact information
    • Post-school information
    • Next of kin
    • Non-academic achievements
    • Electronic documents (upload required documents)

3. Review and Submit:

  • Carefully review all your information.
  • Click “Submit Application” to send it to NWU.

North-West University Online Application Documents Required

For Undergraduate Applicants:

  • Grade 12 results (final results) or Grade 11 final results

  • Copy of matric certificate (if already completed)

  • Copy of applicant’s ID

  • Copy of academic record (if applicable)

  • For applicants upgrading Grade 12: improved results must be submitted

  • For Cambridge, GED, or other non-NSC curricula, or exemptions (age/post-school qualifications): provide a USAF exemption certificate

  • Completed undertaking (details on official NWU website)

  • International applicants: copies of relevant results and passport

For Postgraduate Applicants:

  • Completed mandatory undertaking

  • Copy of ID

  • Copy of academic record (if applicable)
