Undergraduate students:
All prospective undergraduate students are required to apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO) portal at www.cao.ac.za. Direct submissions to the Durban University of Technology for diploma, higher certificate, or bachelorโs degree programs are not accepted. All application fees, along with the necessary supporting documents, must be uploaded and submitted via the CAO portal.
Postgraduate Students
All postgraduate and senior/returning applicants must apply directly to DUT via www.dut.ac.za. If you are applying for a Master’s or Doctorate qualification, you must pay the application fee and submit all supporting documents directly to DUT.

Durban University 2027 Minimum Entrance Requirements
To study at DUT, you need to satisfy the requirements below:
For Higher Certificate Programmes:
- A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with at least 50% in English.
For Diploma Programmes
A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:
- At least 50% in three fundamental subjects, including English, and
- At least 60% in three compulsory vocational
For Bachelorโs Degree:
A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:
- At least 60% in three fundamental subjects, including English, and
- At least 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects, chosen from the National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4
