CAO Is Still Accepting 2026 Late Applications
The Central Applications Office (CAO) has officially confirmed that it is still accepting applications for the 2026 academic year. This is great news for prospective students who missed the main application period or wish to submit a Change of Mind (COM). Through the 2026 Digital Walk-Ins Portal, applicants can now apply to DUT, MUT, UNIZULU and selected private colleges across KwaZulu-Natal.
This extended opportunity will remain available until 28 February 2026, giving candidates a final chance to secure a study space.

How to Apply
All applications must be completed through the 2026 CAO Digital Walk-Ins Portal. The Digital Walk-Ins system allows applicants to complete all essential processes online, without visiting a campus. Follow the steps below once you log in to the portal:
- Go to the ‘2026 Digital Walk-Ins Info‘ tab on the Home Page.
- Enter your ID number and click Submit.
- Read the information and click Continue with Application.
- Enter all the requested information and click Next.
- Click Continue with Online Application.
- Note your CAO Number, Password, and EasyPay Number (sent to your email as well).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete all required information.
- Review your application in the Summary
- Click Process My Application to submit.
- A confirmation message will appear confirming that your application has been successfully submitted

To apply successfully, you must have the following:

- A cellphone with the number entered on your application or
- Access to the email address entered on your application

- A copy of your ID
- Your highest qualification achieved

Late Application Fee and Payment Options for 2026
The late application fee for the 2026 academic intake is R470 for South African citizens and R580 for international applicants. You can pay this fee online when submitting your application through the CAO portal or in person at any EasyPay outlet. Once the administration fee has been received, your application will be processed and made available to the institutions you have applied to.
Application Deadline
The CAO Digital Walk-Ins Portal will close on 28 February 2026. After this date, no further 2026 applications or COM submissions will be accepted. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to increase their chances of placement.
